Photo Card Set #5
This set of three 5×7 cards features photos that I took on our property in Homer, Alaska. My latest hobby, camera trap photography, reflects a lifelong interest. You can read more about my technique and the equipment that I use in my Camera Trap Photography Shop News article.
This set features sandhill cranes at rest. The cranes spend a lot of time in our yard, feeding in the mown hay pasture and drinking water from both natural sources and a handy bird bath. The reddish-brown tint to their feathers is the result of the cranes preening mud into their feathers. Iron oxide in the mud produces the color. Fortunately for the cranes, we have several foundation drain outlets that produce a steady stream of nicely-tinted mud throughout the summer.
The cards are printed by Bay Photo in Scotts Valley, California, using a six-color printing process — the highest quality press-printed card process available. Each card comes with a standard white envelope and is packaged in a clear protective bag. The cards are also suitable for framing.
