The Pacific halibut is a flat fish with both eyes on one side of the body.  True to this form, the trivet has eyes only on the top side. The body of the trivet is crafted from walnut. The eyes, which are slightly larger in this 2022 version, are crafted from maple, walnut, and ebony.

In a meticulous and time-consuming process, over 120 grooves are individually cut in the ¼”-thick interlocking pieces that form the body of the fish.  Ted uses a bandsaw and drum sander to shape the head and tail sections, followed by hand finish work.

The trivet is protected with multiple coats of a durable penetrating oil finish.

Dimensions:  15″ long, 7″ wide, and 3/4″ tall.

Use and Care Instructions:  Crafted to last a lifetime, the trivet can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and dried with a soft towel.  Do not put in dishwasher or immerse in water.
