The set is plated with rhodium, a member of the platinum group of precious metals, and accented with black titanium and a Swarovski crystal on the pen cap. The set is encased in a black leatherette box.

The pen and letter opener are turned from cocobolo, an expensive exotic wood indigenous to Central America. The low-gloss Danish oil finish won’t show fingerprints and requires no maintenance.

The pen has a postable cap, which means that the cap can be screwed onto the other end of the pen when it is open or in use. It uses a Schmidt ink cartridge with a ceramic point. Schmidt cartridges are available in office supply stores. To insert an ink refill, simply untwist the threaded end cap.
